The Christmas Lantern Parade in Maidenhead

Six local schools from the Maidenhead area took part in the annual Lantern Parade across the town on Saturday night. The theme this year was animals, with each school creating coloured lanterns of its own species ranging from foxes, fish and bears.

It made for an amazing sight when the parade left the Town Hall to start it tour and I was lucky enough to get prime position to photograph the fun

Over 500 lanterns were created for the event by the school kids under the guidance of Same Sky's who were also responsible of the larger (and very impressive) lanterns that could be seen prowling the town.  The parade was organised and co-ordinated by Robyn Bunyan from Norden Farm, Centre for the Arts who said "We have been working with a number of primary schools over the last few weeks with the help of Same Sky to create the lanterns and they look amazing, I am overwhelmed because the whole town was awash with lanterns so I want to say thank you to everyone who took part."

As a Photographer in Berkshire I can say, without a doubt, that I've never seen Maidenhead looking so bright and colourful during the festive period......I can't wait for next year already!
