Frequently Asked Questions
Portrait/ Lifestyle Photography
-
How long does a session usually last?
-
We don’t watch the clock but take as much time as we need to capture the images. As a rough guide, though, a lifestyle or studio shoot usually takes about 2 hours allowing time for outfit changes and maybe a well-deserved refreshment break mid-way through!
-
How far in advance should we book a session?
-
There is no set answer to this as it varies from week to week, month to month. However, with a diary that can run a month or two in advance during busy periods, please allow as much time as you can to avoid disappointment!
-
How many photos will we see from the shoot?
-
More than you will know what to do with! It's really hard to give an exact number as it will depend on the number of people, outfits, locations but as a rough guide a baby or engagement shoots usually averages 60 images and a family shoot about 80 images. Your images will be shown in various finishes including colour and black & white.
-
How many people can come along to a lifestyle shoot?
-
We are very happy for parents and grandparents to also attend a shoot. However, space can be limited (depending on location) so outside maybe the best option
-
Where will the shoot take place?
-
This will be agreed beforehand
-
What if my child is a bit lively?
-
We know only too well that children have minds of their own and we pride ourselves on our ability to entertain children and win them round. From asking them to help photograph with a spare camera, changing tack to some racing shots or just taking a refreshment break can make all the difference. Please don’t worry!
-
What happens if someone is unwell and we need to reschedule?
-
No problem. There is no charge for rescheduling but if it's possible, please do try to give us as much notice as you can. We will reschedule the shoot as soon as we can. Please allow at least 48 hours between the last symptoms. This is to help ensure other clients (and our team!) don't go down with it too!
-
What happens if it rains?
-
With the summers we seem to be having at the moment, a very good question! We try and get a mix of indoor and outdoor images so we can usually work around any showers
-
Can I bring a make-up artist or can you recommend people we can use?
-
Yes you are welcome to bring a make-up artist with you and we work with some excellent make up artists local to the studio. Please contact us for details.
-
Is there anything we should bring with us?
-
Over the years we have had a selection of props brought to shoots. We have never specified anything but always happy to include new ideas and precious things!
-
How much will you direct us?
-
Our style of photography is very relaxed and unobtrusive. we will offer tips and advice on how to stand/sit individually and together to look your best but we are looking to capture the natural interactions within a family which can never be directed.
-
What if I'm not comfortable in front of the camera?
-
This isn’t unusual but something we can help with. We will talk through the shoot at the beginning and ask about any special request or reservations. We have a gentle approach that will put even the most apprehensive at ease.
-
How do I book a lifestyle session?
-
Just give us a call on 07590916407 or use contact form to drop us an email to make booking and we will check the diary. Weekend dates are very popular and get booked about six weeks in advance.
-
Can I give a lifestyle session as a gift?
-
Yes this is very popular (and, we think, a rather lovely gift.)
-
When do we pay for our shoot?
-
Once you have confirmed your booking we ask for you to pay for the shoot. Frames and albums are paid for at the time of ordering.
